The UPLB Forestry Society was established on November 17, 1982 with the primary goal of promoting academic excellence among the studentry while espousing various environmental concerns. At present, the Society remains to be an active advocate of the principles that has served as its foundations through the past years and will continue to be of service to the studentry, the College, the University, and the Filipino society.
  • Date of Foundation: November 17, 1982

  • First President: Bresilda Gervacio

  • The original name was Ranger's Club entirely due to the fact that all of the pioneer member are enrolled in the Forest Ranger's Course (now the Certificate in Forestry). Enevtually, all of them were able to shift to the BS Forestry curriculum

  • The society's constitution was ratified on March 10, 1985

  • The UPLB Forestry Society is the pioneer academic organization in the CFNR. It remains to be the sole general academic organization in the College

  • The term "Sylvan" was first adopted to the members of the Society on October 1985.

  • The first Sylvan handshake was first adopted on August 1988.

  • The first Sylvan Week was commemorated on November 19-23 1996

  • The Society's constitution was first amended on June 27, 1997

  • The motto of the organization is, "For once thy become a Sylvan, forever thy'll be."
